This is a drawing I finished last week. It is the first in a series of still lifes I am planning to do in graphite. I also have ideas for colored pencil works that I am eager to get underway. All of this, of course, right when I am suddenly quite busy with free-lance work. Deadlines are looming. That is all good, especially to even have work these days, so I am not complaining. I only wonder why it is that when I have an abundance of ideas to explore with my art work that is exactly when I have a million other things that must be done.

Beautiful drawing. You really captured that shell terrifically. As far as having ideas for when you are too busy for them, I think the universe likes to play games with us sometimes lol.
ReplyDeleteI think the reason you and many others have so many ideas when we have a million things demanding our attention has to do with a couple of things. 1. I think we escape into the world of art when our minds are pressured by deadlines, and we spend that time being thoroughly creative. And 2. (has to do with number 1) when we are pressured by a million things to do, we know we can't ever do what we want, so flights of fancy or escaping is a freedom to us and we just let down barriers. In other words, in minor ways we clear ourselves from our personal censor and just play in our heads and the result is both mental health and lots of new ideas to try. That's as specific as I can get in a quick note.
