If you stand way back from your screen, take off your glasses, and squint, this may look okay. This geranium is another exercise that I did for the watercolor pencil class. It's 5 x 5 inches on Arches hot press. When working on this one I followed the same procedure but somehow I didn't have the groove, wasn't quite in the zone, or whatever, that I had when doing the hosta leaves. So it goes.
Oh Ann! These are really lovely! I think you did a great job with the light and shadow!!... deni....;)
ReplyDeleteI left my glasses on and it still looks fine to me! I'll bet if you put it away and come back to it later, you'll think so, too.
ReplyDeleteBut when I feel this way I always think to myself, "the next one will be better!"
Ann, no need to take my glasses off! It's lovely and delicate. Is it that you miss having richer darks? That's often my problem with WC pencils...
ReplyDeleteI'm not squinting (gives you wrinkles you know?!) and I'm right in front of my v. large screen.
ReplyDeleteThe petals on the flower are beautiful and light with highlights and definition so well captured.
I think this is one to be proud of!
Gosh, I can't think see what you think is wrong with it - I think it's perfect! Very delicate flowers with lovely highlights.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I've not had much experience with watercolour pencils but these look so good I may have a go myself
ReplyDeletethis looks more then ok :) the petals look really good, nice blending of colours on them. The flower itself is wonderful, and if I had to say what might be off, its the blue background. the lines are a little distracting (I know you didn't ask what might be wrong with it, so delete this if you want :) )
ReplyDeleteThis looks very good. It has a soft and delicate look to it. You should be pleased with this one. No need to squint at it to appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a really good job on the flower petals. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteI like it as is. Squinting does help a lot, but isn't that true of most work. It looks really super to me. I can't believe what a light hand you have in your work.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, you are right, it is the background that bugs me the most! I got a little carried away with this one and should have planned better and stopped sooner :-)
