Here it comes. Although a day late, Happy Summer Solstice! It is a gorgeous summer day here and in celebration of the summer sun I thought I'd share this sunny flower with you all. This was another exercise for the watercolor pencil class. The class has two more lessons (weeks) and I will be sorry to see it end. I have been having a blast experimenting with this media and see many possibilities for incorporating watercolor pencil with my colored pencil work. But taking a course of this type does require a good deal of time. So not only have I slowed down on posting here but I have been neglecting my blogger friends as well. For that I appreciate your patience and plan to get back into the rhythm of things very soon.
Hi Ann,
ReplyDeleteI found all your posts are amazing..and I liked them
well done!
This is beautiful Ann. I have been a little leary of on line classes, but after see your progression in this medium, I am definitely going to take one.
ReplyDeleteI love your A little Monet-ish too!!!
Nice one!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Ann! I love the vibrant colors and the effect you get with the watercolor pencil (details and washes, both). I haven't been paying attention, but it sounds like your class has been an online one? If you have any older post on that or can send me info on that, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Lovely composition and you have used some of my favourite colours. And yes, it is hard to keep up on our fellow bloggers...especially those folks that post so often! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt turned very hot here. We'd been so cool and very humid, but now it is drying out more and usually when summer hits it is with a big punch.
ReplyDeleteI love the sunflowers. I love doing things like a class or workshop now and then. It is great fun and jars me out of rut.
Beautifully bright and very "watercolorish"!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'll be in your neck of the woods this coming weekend (Boone). Are your works in any galleries/stores up that way?
Beautiful. I really like your use of contrasting colors.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love the composition and the bright colors, the shadowing on the pedals so wonderfully done - the flower has such depth. I'm a bit amazed at the washes in the background - from watercolor pencil?
ReplyDeleteLovely! You're very talented! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ann!
ReplyDeleteYou're improving at the speed of light with wc pencils! Your last posts are very beautiful: your rendering of sea water, your "water lilies"... and this one! Simply beautiful paintings... congratulations.
Best regards,
Carolina
This is mind-blowing Ann! The petals are so vividly done, and the depth of the drawing is brought out by the perfectly executed shadows :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your previous comments again. I'm still working on another drawing of me and Tanna ^^ we'll see how many will get rejected.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteDan, I should have explained, the background was with washes made from neocolor II crayons, one of the techniques taught in the class :-)
I realy enjoyed looking at your blog this morning
