Sketchbook Tuesday

Here we are approaching the Thanksgiving holiday already. I have been thinking about just how much I have to be thankful for this year. Family, friends, pets, a home to enjoy, the list goes on. But what I want to mention here is that I am thankful for you. It is because of your visits to my little blog, over here in my corner of cyberspace, that I am encouraged to keep creating. Your comments bolster me and keep me going. So in this time of year with its celebrations of the harvest, I am thankful to have found all of you. May you all enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
These are two more gouache studies in my hand.book journal. They are fun yet challenging to do, quick and spontaneous reactions to shape and value, without the aid of color for defining form. The second image is inspired by a photo taken by my friend Beth. Thanks Beth for the lovely image!

  2. Yay Thanksgiving... hmmm.. but I still don't understand the concept yet. I will someday I am sure :) But I'd like to thank you Ann for keeping my blog active and alive too. You've always been supportive and generous of the work I do there, and to be getting that from a professional such as yourself... it's just like winning an Oscar or something, *Bows bows*
I really like this monochrome series with gouache. I haven't tried this media yet(actually I've only used pencils, color pencils, water color, and poster color), and hopefully someday I'd be able to experience this wonderful looking media, and just to be greedy in learning more, acrylic and oil too! That's why I desperately need to go through a proper art class >__<

  9. Dear Friend,
And I am thankful that we were able to connect through cyberspace. I remember with lots of gratitude the times I got to spend overnight at your house as a girl and the spring break trip to Myrtle Beach (!) and the music I learned to love (Jim Croce goes with your name). I also have an 'Ann Thompson' picture that I love. I am so blessed! Thanks for being my friend!
    Love,
    ellen
