I struggled to get the colors of this image to match the original painting. It's not exact, but as close as I could come. I really enjoyed painting this one. It's a scene I have worked from before, so perhaps it is because of my
familiarity with the shape of the water and the marshes that made an easy transition to paint. Living here in the mountains I sometimes long to see a wide horizon. These South Carolina marshes fascinate me with their meandering waterways and all those horizontal shapes of layered color. Number 13 of my 100 painting project.
This is so beautiful and peaceful. I like the bold patches of color and the smoothness of the sky. Nice contrasting textures and colors. Very nicely done!
ReplyDeleteYes, it really is beautiful. I love the reflections in the water and how it meanders around. The colors are just right. It looks like it goes on forever. nancy
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous piece, Ann. You seem to coax a richness into your palette that just translates beautifully in the painting. I can see the texture of your canvas a bit, I think, and it just adds to the grasses.
ReplyDeleteI think your marshes are much preferable to my wide horizons...where I am sure to get commercial boxes as far as the eye can see, and with very ugly architecture, I might add! Occasionally I get a pretty sky, or pass a pretty field on the way to the next town. Besides, your marshes provide us the opportunity to see your beautiful paintings!
ReplyDeleteI just love your painting style. With this project, you have created some gorgeous pieces!
ReplyDeleteTHis is very appealing indeed, with interesting shapes and bold color. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about the colors, but I really like the reflections on this one(actually I think all the reflections you drew are excellent!) I love the color of the water in the foreground, and the strong but vague horizon makes the scenery looks grand as it probably it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous match of colors in your painting. None of the marshes I grew up around in Savannah had the beauty of yours.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely Ann...colors, blue sky, and all!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of one of my favorite places in the world - the Everglades. I lke the striations and the contrast between orange and blue.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours, living in a small place it's so nice to see a view that goes on for ever
ReplyDeleteBeautiful marsh scene - one of my favorite places to draw and paint - you've really captured the color variation well!
ReplyDeleteWow - that is just gorgeous. I'm enjoying wandering around your blog and loking at your wonderful work.
