A new day at the beach always feels so open for possibility. Maybe because of the space and the light that grows bigger with each passing moment.

I have been busy these past few days cleaning and organizing my work space, with the professor's help, of course. Some of you may remember this view of my little work corner.
What you can't see here are the piles of stuff that were under each table. Or the other side of the room that had shelving units stacked with toys. Or the other computer desk behind mine. It was a very crowded and cluttered room.
So we packed away the precious toys that are no longer played with by 11 year old Kiddo. Many more were dropped at the thrift store. We purchased a real desk (with drawers, yay!) for my computer and did away with the door supported by shelves that was my desk. We de-cluttered. And de-cluttered some more.

The professor's desk is on the opposite wall in this view. The two closets on that wall are cleaned out, re-organized, one for Kiddo's remaining toys, craft kits, and stuff, the other for my crafty things. No more crawling around under a table in order to find something. We found a floor in the center of this room!
Ahhhhh. . . .

  1. Oh, what a wonderful workspace! I did that to my studio a year ago and what a difference it made! I love your new painting. It makes me want to run off to the nearest beach .... OK, that would be a tad far - at least a couple of hundred miles, but I would sure love to do it! nancy

  6. Gorgeous window there, Ann! I must say that I was struck by the coincidence of both of us doing the same thing (I did this on Friday, same room)! I expect you might be able to fit at 1 1/2 of my rooms into your's! LOL

Your beach painting is exquisite. I am quite drawn in by the color of the sand and its darkness. Wet sand is darker...This reminds me of an early morning view, a bit of darkness still playing with the edges. Just such a tranquil moment in time...wish I was here.

  8. I am always interested in other's workspaces as I am in the process of figuring how I want to set up my room and storage. Do you work at your drawing/painting table standing up? Are the plastic letter trays used for drying small oil paintings? Are your lights combo. lights with regular and florescent bulbs?

  9. Thanks all!
Debo, I work at my drawing table sitting down, just wheel my chair where I need it :-) Those letter trays are for drying oil paintings. when they get mostly dry I move them to the dish rack (next to the letter trays) and when they are completely dry then they go into the box on the far right, separated by cardboard. It's a system that's working for now anyway. My lights have "reveal" 60 watt bulbs in them.

I am enjoying my new space! Thanks again for visiting and commenting everyone!

  13. I was so impressed by your studio space transformation that I almost forgot about the painting you posted. Seriously though, you have done an amazing amount of sorting in that room. Congratulations! Oh, and I especially like the colours in the sky and on the shore - in the painting. :-)
