Painting #23 - Pansy

Along with still life I thought I'd try painting a few flowers. This pansy is from a photo I took last fall at a garden center. And here it is, time for flowers again. I used to paint flowers quite a lot and I enjoy them as subject matter for paintings. So I am looking forward to seeing what flowers I may find for inspiration this season.

    Wow! This one jumped from the page to strike me, it's so powerful! So beautiful! Fantastic job with the light and the tridimensional effect.
    Also love the pears, they're gorgeous. And the spring fever one. Your spring colors are stunning!

    The petals look very velvety - just like the real thing. I really like the dark background and the yellow petals around it. Another wonderful piece of work! nancy

    It just jumps out and I'd say this is photorealistically excellent! =)
    I really like the colors. It's nowhere near your usual water and green grass and sky kind of stuff, it's different and it's very nice!

    This is stunning...you definitely do flowers well!! I love the close-up, the colors are vibrant, your blending is excellent! Great picture! Reminds me a little of Georgia O'Keefe!
