Here is #32 of my 100 painting project. This is a view of the river at Valle Crucis park, on one of those bright, yet overcast, days in late summer. I love these small scenes for their simple intimacy, allowing for a moment or two of quiet reflection. I am fortunate to be able to live in an area that is abundant with places such as this, places that feed the soul. It's something you can't buy in your super-mega-store.
To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter...
to be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring
- these are some of the rewards of the simple life.
~John Burroughs
Your work is always incredible and I enjoy looking at your paintings. I love this painting and your project that you have been doing.
ReplyDeleteI can almost hear the sound of that brook - what a wonderful scene! nancy
ReplyDeleteHow pretty and peaceful!
ReplyDeleteSimple and exquisite. I liked the texture on the tree. I would be fumbling with the fore ground in such a piece, you have handled oit very well with an easy looking approach.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Burroughs; my absolute philosophy on life. Another beautiful piece here, Ann. I love peeking through these gorgeous trees to the river beyond, seeing those soft greens in the distance.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scene, your landscape painting are always very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteThis painting takes me away. I am really enjoying your outdoor paintings. The Southwest ones have a particular charm for me. Great quote as well.
ReplyDeleteYes a simple life is best, you are lucky to live is such a beautiful area and have nature to inspire you to paint scenes like this one.
ReplyDeleteFantastic looking scene! I adore the birch tree being on the left, but looking like in the spot light at the same time. The river looks amazing too!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, you are quite lucky to constantly find inspiration surrounding you. No megastore can beat that, I don't miss those days at all. Now I live in a small historic town, so I have plenty of old houses, covered porches and barns to choose from to paint.
ReplyDeleteHow peaceful it must be to sit on the bank of this stream...
The poem goes perfectly with your painting, which is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! I wish you could all join me on a painting outing here...
ReplyDeleteLove this painting... and this spot... where I was almost a year ago today!
