This is #51 of my 100 painting project. It is a view from the trail near the Moses Cone Manor on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a spot where we often return for hiking and sketching. There is something about the way the horizon unfolds from the undulating hills that makes this area very appealing to me. Living in the mountains you become acutely aware of the limited sky. Places like this, where the sky opens up, are my favorite.
You live in such a beautiful place, and your paintings are just stunning. I love the colors and the way you handled all the various levels and contours of the hills. nancy
ReplyDeleteSerenity and timelessness. Both shine through this beautiful landscape, Ann. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting! It makes me anxious for summer and hiking trips!!
ReplyDeleteI love the whole painting but the sky is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLooks a lovely spot, captured beautifully!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Ann =)
ReplyDelete49 to go, and it'd be great to see a post where you spread all of them out when they are all done. It'd be a spectacular collection!
This is so beautiful, Ann! Having grown up in Texas (FLAT!), I was always drawn to the hills! To me the hills felt like a protective arm. Or a hug. It is funny how everything is so relative to what we know! Your vast sky there looks small to the ones I see. But then, I'd probably be calling those hills, mountains!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks all!
ReplyDeleteNanke, when the weather is nice here it is gorgeous. When the weather is bad it can be brutal!
Alex - I've got them all (I think) on my website and on flickr - links over there on the right :-)
Raena - they really are mountains!
Thanks again everyone! I do appreciate all of your wonderful comments!
So beautiful and soothing - I know I'd love to hike there, too!
