Here is #57 of my 100 painting project. It is a another view of the marshes at Botany Bay on Edisto Island, SC. Remember when I did the thumbnail exercise? This is the first painting the sprung from that process. I have noticed that the further away I get from the original reference, the more I work in terms of color, as in color field painting. A move toward abstraction? I don't know. I may just have to find out though.
This is definitely more abstract than the others and it works very well. I love how the trees on the right fade into the sky.
ReplyDeleteI loved the abstract perception of shapes and colors, lovely!
ReplyDeleteI also think this is slightly more abstract than usual. 'Course, this is what the world looks like to me when I don't have my glasses on (I need them to see things in the distance). I love the shapes and colors and the foreground is magical with those colors and strokes. Lovely work, Ann!
ReplyDeleteIt was the large swaths of color that I noticed, and that impresses me about the work. Interesting to see where you go.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely work. I like being able to put my own interpretation on artwork and I can 'see' this scene very clearly.
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me to be more disciplined about doing thumbnails!
Lovely, especially those greens, purples and yellows far away.
ReplyDeleteI love your painting project, and this one is very different from your others. I like it a lot. Really nice colors and feel of peace.
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying this 100 paintings project of yours!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, I like your brush work. Very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous =) I could just lie there
ReplyDeleteLovely Ann, does seem a move to abstraction but works so well. Beautiful colours! Love the Marsh Song too. I've enjoyed catching up on your sketches as well....you've inspired me to get back to journals as do most mine on watercolour sheets
ReplyDeleteI love this one! The foreground is beautiful and the composition is lovely. nancy
