A little here and a little there and I have finally reached a stopping point with this drawing. It still needs a bit of cleaning up, and I may still do some tweaking, but I am ready to let this on sit a while.
This little sea urchin is one of our beach finds and now lives in a pretty glass bowl on a table near our front entrance, along with other treasures from the sea. Now to select my next project. I have been thinking about getting those oils out again, but do I really have the time? Hmmm. . .
very nice :) the texture looks like the real thing, very bumpy and rough
ReplyDeleteLove the texture! What did you use colored pencils and watercolors?
ReplyDeleteIts wonderful! I really admire how you changed the colors from one side to the other! That really makes it special. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI admire your ability to make the top-down view work, I can never seem to get it right!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing, to have a pretty glass bowl filled with sea treasures - a bowl of wonderful memories I am sure. A lovely sea urchin, such wonderful texture. (I love the word urchin, I sometimes call my baby goats that,'little urchins'). Can't wait to see the next project!
ReplyDeleteSaw the title, and immediately knew that it's going to be something amazing AGAIN =) I was right! This is terrific Ann
ReplyDeleteAmazing is right! A masterpiece!!!

ReplyDeleteI've been looking forward to seeing this finished product. Just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done with soft delicate colours....perfect!
ReplyDeleteIt's really beautiful - I especially love the way you handled the light. Well done! nancy
ReplyDeleteSurreal sketch! Great work!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved, loved, loved the simplicity of a finely drawn object on a plain background. One of my own favorite drawings is a piece I did years ago of a little silver plant mister. No one in my family seems to take much notice of it, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteHey, we're hosting a Giveaway of an original drawing of mine over at The Noodle Factory. I invite you and your readers to come by and enter!
This is just wonderful, simple, symmetrical, and all most rising from the page.
ReplyDeleteVery realistic, with that subtle coloring, and beautiful, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat muted, soft colors and detail in this piece. I'm always drawn to the colors you use!
