Sketchbook Tuesday - green things

Here we are in the grayest, darkest season of the year, yet I have managed to find some green things to sketch in my journal. This was done the other evening when I should have been getting dinner started. Because people were hungry. Sometimes meals are a little later in the evening when I cook, especially if I feel the need to get in a sketch first.
I found a hyacinth at the grocery and brought it home in order to bring a little spring inside on these gray, winter days. I was hoping that it would have blue blooms that I love. But it has begun blooming now and the blossoms are white. Still pretty and it smells wonderful.

You know, sometimes I leave a lot of white space on my journal pages when I do a sketch. Often times that space gets filled later on with writing or a quote from my reading. And sometimes I just like the feeling of space on the page with the sketch. One never knows. Just in case you were wondering...

  3. The pears look nice and juicy and the hyacinth is lovely too. I like the idea of leaving the white space for journaling later. I always have the idea that I need to do it all at once, which is silly because that never happens!

  10. Yeah for green things - green is my favourite colour. Lovely sketches, they looks so fresh and spontaneous (love all the colours you used in the hyacinth buds)! Ah, the scent of a hyacinth...I have paperwhite narcissi blooming in my dining room - they smell great too. I have granny smith apples waiting for their photo shoot in my studio. Yup, yeah for green things! :-)

  11. Love the greens, and the pears look ripe and juicy. I like the layout of your pages and with the white left, it makes the colours stand out and the white calms it down (hope that makes sense). I bought a few hyacinths as well, and ended up with purple when I wanted white (too bad we dont shop in the same store, lol)

Lovely paintings and greens, well done!!
