It has been a little while since I posted a colored pencil piece. Here is the latest. Inspired by the changing light and color of the ocean and sky, I decided to try a more simplified composition as a statement of color. And yes, the title does suggest that there may well be more like this to come.
Dear Ann - thanks for stopping by to visit and leave such nice comments. This colored pencil landscape is gorgeous. Do you ever use watercolor as an underpainting for your colored pencil. I have been playing around doing this but not sure I am satisfied with the results. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh my...breathtaking! That icean calls to me, and looks warm, which I'm not. Lovely work Ann!
ReplyDeleteI feel as if I am on a boat looking far out to sea. This is the essence of the beauty of the sea for me. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie, Jennifer and Sherry!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I have tried watercolor as underpainting with cp, but like you, have never been happy with the results. I keep thinking a different paper or something but have yet to find a method I like. I have, however, seen other artist use this method with beautiful results.
great reflections of the sky in the water :)
ReplyDeletethe only surface i have had any luck with with using watercolours and cps together is actually thick paper covered in gesso and then lightly sanded. takes a little longer to dry and the watercolour can pool if you don't have the paper flat but it works well. the texture from the sanded gesso works well with cp.
That is really beautiful! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely Ann, great colours
ReplyDeleteAnn,beautiful orange sky and love all the colors of the waves!
