Here is a small watercolor series that I recently completed.

These paintings of marshes are inspired by our visits to Edisto Island on the South Carolina coast.

I love seeing the many moods of the sky reflected in the ribbons of water
that weave through the marsh grasses.

Ann - all are so beautiful...the last one seems to echo the season's colors right now. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I like the idea of a series of paintings, hung as a group. A family of artwork. Is this a different kind of paper from the beach plein air? The colors and textures of this series is different from the other. Both are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! I always look forward to your visits here :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you Katherine! It is different paper. The beach plein air are on watercolor postcards, Canson brand I think. These marsh paintings are on 140lb bright white Kilimanjaro watercolor paper. And I began with a yellow ochre gradated wash. Plus they were also painted much more slowly and carefully :-)
Je aquarellen zijn prachtig!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ineke!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Ann!
ReplyDeleteI always love your marsh paintings and can almost imagine being there myself. Gorgeous colors as always, Ann.

ReplyDeleteWow - these are stunning! That's the way that watercolor is supposed to be used and what they mean by the light of watercolor.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debra, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteDan, that's quite a compliment and exactly what I was aiming for with these. Thanks so much!
