Number 8 of my 100 painting project. This is a scene I keep revisiting, in my art and in real life, with every opportunity we have to travel to the South Carolina coast. The beauty of the marsh lands there never cease to captivate my attention.

And oh yeah, we did get another good snow, as did most of our south eastern US neighbors. Fun. (that's being sarcastic) Our local weather guy said that the end of January usually marks the halfway point of our snowfall for the winter. And that in an El Nino year like this one we usually get more snow in the second half of winter. It doesn't look like it will do any good to be tired of snowy winter weather. So I'll just keep coming back to these scenes of spring and summer on my little easel.

  4. Do the Carolinas typically get that much snow that often?
    Another wonderful painting, Ann.

  5. Marsh lands are always so beautiful to me as well, Ann. I love that you and Gary both share scenes of your vacation getaway. Much as I dislike the summer months, there is something to be said for a relaxing vacation in paradise, yes? The marsh is gorgeous!

  6. I love the dark, shady areas of this scene, Ann. So much bright color too. A great way to keep memories of your favorite vacations alive... in the dead of winter as you mentioned.

  7. The colors in the painting are outstanding. They are definitely a good way to paint away the blues of winter.

  8. I did not want to hear that. The consolation is that I am taking lots of photos for pictures later...

  12. Thanks everyone!

We both have birthdays coming up Deni! Hope yours is happy :-)

Leslie, most of the Carolinas don't usually get much snow but we are way up in the mountains with an average annual snowfall of 40 inches. It just usually doesn't come all at once!

Nanke - how long will it take us to get there?
