This is another painting inspired by the marshes at Botany Bay on Edisto Island, South Carolina. It wasn't that long ago that I showed you a quick watercolor sketch I had done of the same scene. You might remember. I'll do that. Play with the same image in various media just to see what will happen. I could create an entire body of work just from the references I collected at Botany Bay while on our last trip to Edisto Island. Being there is like escaping into another magical world. This is #37 of my 100 painting project.
Another beautiful painting! I'm so impressed with your dedication.
ReplyDeleteLove the feel here, with the grasses being so tall that if you were walking through all of a sudden the water would just be there in front of you all natural and cool.

Are we in a boat? Beautifully done, with rich colors - reminds me of the Everglades that I love.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. It reminds me of some places on the east coast of the UK, in Suffolk and Norfolk where there are views like this of waterways and reed beds.
ReplyDeleteDo you get to go to the bay again soon, Ann? I remember Gary also talking about your vacation spot and doing some fabulous paintings (and where is he by the by??) as well. This one is just beautiful, so tranquil! I do remember the other piece you did of this spot and I like them both!
ReplyDeleteLovely again, most of all that sun light spot in the middle, so spontaneous!
ReplyDeleteDan's right, it does feel like we're in a boat! I love the colors, especially the purple in the background. nancy
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely painting - I recognized it from the watercolor sketch you posted a bit ago. I can feel you love of this place.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you're drawn to this scene again and again; it is so tranquil! Wonderful painting! What do you do with them when you're done? Do you have them scattered about the house, or do you have a dedicated wall? Surely they are on display! (Although, with two of you in the family, I imagine wall space is hard to come by!)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Ann. I love how the sky is reflected in the water.
ReplyDeleteamazingly gorgeous! Love the way the details works in the nearer end, and everything goes gradually blurry towards the horizon.
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolor sketch, but this oil painting is so much richer. You've found a wonderful escape.
