A new sketch for Monday, one of our purple coneflowers. It's about 6 inches square in my watercolor practice pad. I have really been enjoying the flowers in our garden this year. And here it is August already. I've got a new Print of the Month over there in the side bar. Plus something exciting will be happening here on Friday. Happy August everyone!
Wow, this one is beautiful! I didn't know it's called "coneflower" in English but I instantly recognized it! My parents have loads of them in their garden. I love them (and the bees and bumblebees do, too!).
ReplyDeleteI love the rich colors in this one and also the hazy background. Very nice! nancy
ReplyDeleteI find your colors very soothing and joyful!
ReplyDeleteOoooh I love it! It's very purple and natural, but still your signature is detectable here. The blue shades ^^ they are well placed!
ReplyDeleteWhile the coneflower itself is just gorgeous, I find I can't stop my eyes from traveling around the perimeter to drink in all that clean, bright color. Just another amazing piece, Ann. Truly a sight for sore eyes this a.m.
ReplyDeleteStunning! I love the colours, the clean feel to the whole piece, and your 'touch' with the watercolours. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful.I love your work. You're making me itchy to try watercolors.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking, stunning painting. You've captured the depth of the center so well and the colors! Wow!
ReplyDeleteI love the centre of the flower, the purples and oranges are just right.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is fabulous. Why is it a sketch and not a painting? I'm always unsure of the difference. This looks like a painting to me - it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteLovely colours, not only for the flowers, but also for the background, the result is a pleasure for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteBeyond gorgeous!!! I love it! You always handle light and dark with such aplomb.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Mine coneflowers are blooming too - this painting is spot on!
ReplyDeleteLove all the values in this and the palette you used as well.
