Despite my neglect, my herb garden has done well this year. I had plans to neaten it up and mulch around all of the plants but never got around to doing that. However, all of the herbs flourished and filled in the entire bed so that no weeds could be seen, so it didn't look too badly neglected. I have begun cutting some of the herbs for drying. I have oregano, thyme, chives, tarragon and
sage. A lot of sage. The scent of sage is one of my very favorites.
How can a man grow old who has sage in his garden?
ancient proverb
How wonderful that you will have herbs to dry for the winter, and without too much work! I hope you will sketch each of them before you hang them to dry! THIS is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sketchbook spread in watercolor! Sage reminds me of turkey and dressing and Thanksgiving! My favorite holiday!
ReplyDeleteLove it! =)
ReplyDeleteGreat quote and sketch, I can smell the sage from here!
ReplyDeleteVery nice sketch, wish I could smell the sage too ;-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having a successful herb harvest! I too love the smell of fresh herbs. I have mint, lots of it, lovely to have but gosh so invasive...it was planted by the former owner and it wants to take over - so if anyone is reading this comment and is considering planting mint, do your homework first - after reading about its spreading capability, you might wish to plant it in a container. I have so much basil that I am going to freeze some. I have been reading up on how best to do this - something for my to-do list. :-) Lovely sketch!
ReplyDeleteNice drawing. And that sage will be wonderful come Thanksgiving time!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, lovely little study, and I'm sure, lovely garden! nancy
