Sketchbook Tuesday - Freshly baked

Well. With all the cleaning and de-cluttering going on around here I thought I'd try on one of the new Blogger templates for size. The birds just seemed so appropriate. I tried out various ways of using my old header but settled on no header at all for a cleaner look. What do you think? I also added the page tabs but that bit is still under construction. I do like the idea of having static pages as a place to store information, just haven't quite worked out what yet. However, I would like to give things a fresher, simpler look around here.

And speaking of fresh and clean, a little while ago I was given this lovely Sunshine Award for "Creativity and Positivity in Blogging" by fellow blogger Pam Johnson Brickell of South Carolina Low Country Nature Journaling and Art.
A beautiful splash of sunshine from the Low Country is just what is needed to brighten up the place. Of course the hard part of accepting such a wonderful award is choosing who to pass it along to. And choosing folks that I haven't already recently passed awards along to. There are, however, lots of creative bloggers in my blog list over on the side bar. So I am simply asking you to please take a moment and look them over. I am often updating that list too, as I discover blogs that I enjoy. It's a very long list so if you plan on looking at them all you may need to grab a cup of coffee and settle in.

The sketch above is of today's loaf of artisan bread. We've been having fresh bread almost daily since I got this book.

Hmm, your bread drawing makes me hungry again : )!
Love all your recent work, especially the "spring snow" painting with its splendid contrasting colors, and the sketchbook page with the snow, awesome! (and the cookie - incredibly realistic!)

Great bread! I always wonder how people get food look so real! Looking at this, I can practically smell it and hear the crust break!
Also, I really love the birds! Clean look and one of the most beautiful (fast loading!!) headers I've seen! <3

I am reminded of the old children's ditty "Hot Cross Buns," and I do believe I see a cross on the top of this bread, yes? Oh to have such a wonderful smell emanating in this place! Looks so yummy!

I love the new page layout, Ann. The colors are nice and set your paintings off beautifully! Love the birds flying off on top right too. I always like trying out new colors on my page.

That bread looks wonderfully crisp and delicious! Did it really only take you 5 minutes to make? nancy

The bread looks delicious and the drawing of it is wonderful too! Baking bread is something I've always thought I would like but somehow never get around to on a regular basis. Do you use a bread machine?

Great looking bread, and sketch...
I can smell it! I bake bread and it gives me the same pleasure as drawing.
From your drawing I can see that you obtain a better crust with deep crevasses (cracks).

Thanks everyone for your comments! I am liking this new template more all the time, I think I'll keep it :-) Your feedback helps a lot so I appreciate all of your comments on that.

Nancy, yes, it really does take about 5 minutes a day to make this bread. It's a pretty easy process.

Roadchick, I have baked bread off and on since college and I did use a bread machine for several years as well, they are nice to have. But this method doesn't require one. It is very easy too :-)

I like the clean new look of your blog! And the bread is wonderful. The textures are so well done!

Don't laugh, but I just made my first homemade pizza dough the other day. I've got my confidence up and think I'll be trying bread soon!
