Drift

This is #43 of my 100 painting project. It is a scene from a nearby park where the North Fork of the New River runs along a walking path. Having grown up near the Ohio River, I always chuckle at the thought of these mountain streams being called "rivers". Yet it's true that they are indeed rivers. Up here, right at the Eastern Continental Divide, is where the rivers begin their journeys that eventually end at the sea.

Beautiful work yet again Ann. I could totally imagine myself being there...perhaps fishing or playing with the water. ^^

Somehow I missed this in my blog travels yesterday, Ann. I am so sorry!

I love this painting, so redolent of spring and summer days. I know what you mean about creeks or springs versus rivers. I never know what to call this smaller tributaries either. Even some of the rivers here...they are so shallow that I find it amazing that they can handle barge and boat traffic! I know that you can walk all the way across the Kankakee River in Wilmington!

Anyway, this is just such a pleasant piece and makes me want to be able to sit and picnic with a book!

No matter if its a "river" or a stream, I can just imagine the water rippling past....
