Sketchbook Tuesday - blooming
I received a gorgeous potted lily for Valentine's Day. And I have made a couple of attempts at sketching the buds and blooms. The right hand page I sketched on Sunday, but made the color of the flower buds too warm. Yesterday I had another go at it since one of the buds had opened. The pink is a little too cool this time. Each day this lily has another blossom opening up. It is wonderful having a blooming plant indoors, especially at this time of the year. I am hoping we can keep it long enough to plant in our yard this coming spring.

should live until then and as long as the bulb isnt rotten, you can plant it outside but they live fine in pots
Beautiful. I love seeing it in different stages of its life!
Lovely Ann
It's GORGEOUS!! I love how it floats across the spread!
So beautiful! Spring is definitely coming near... the university is planting flowers again =)
I don't think it is too warm or too cool. That is the beauty of painting flowers; they are so forgiving and I think the colors are beautiful!
Beautiful, you are your own worse critic, don't be so hard on yourself.
Lovely! The blues you have used for the shadow creates a great balance of colors. I love it!
Without the plant to see, we've no way of knowing if it's too cool or too warm—tis gorgeous with each bud having its own coloring.
Warm, cool both work for me. Lovely additions to the sketchbook! The bulb will transplant just fine. I have transplanted many and they have all survived. One Easter lily even blossomed again that year, late in the summer. I love the smell of lilies - lucky you!
Thanks everyone! Lilies are one of the few plants I have actually been able to grow in our yard - so I have positive vibes about this one!
Gorgeous indeed! Beautiful drawing!
