sketchbook Tuesday :: gourds

We stopped by the "You Pick Pumpkins" field last Friday and I purchased these small gourds for our seasonal decoration. The shapes and colors were too pretty to resist. These were sketched with watercolor only in my handmade sketchbook.

Gourds give such great opportunities for watercolor, don't you think? You did these proud, Ann!

They have such lovely texture and colour, you have captured them really well and inspired me to bring some in to decorate our home.

I always remember my grandma having a bowl of gourds in the autumn and I also remember us shaking them to hear the seeds rattle inside. What an amazing memory this piece gave me. I'd long forgotten than until now.

I didn't realize there was a demo on the Rosetta Stone. LOL I was probably in too big of a hurry (one of my many downfalls). I am a bit non-plussed by the lack of instructions on the pages so often start with a mistake due to trying to click and figure out what the exercise is...

Not to mention, my high school French started out with verb conjugations for "I am" and "I have..." But I am enjoying the program too. Maybe at some point your daughter and I can attempt a conversation on their chat thing.
