I did it!

Avon Boat
Neocolor II and colored pencil on pastel board
12 x 6 inches
©2007 by Ann Thompson Nemcosky

I wasn't planning on putting up another post today but because I received a bit of news in the mail this afternoon I couldn't wait to share. You may recall that one of my art goals for 2008 was to enter six exhibitions. Just enter. I had absolutely no expectations of actually being accepted, I just wanted to begin the process this year. And today I found out that this piece, Avon Boat, has been accepted into the Associated Artists of Southport 28th July National Exhibition. I'd better do some framing now!

But first I must get this house cleaned up. We have family coming to town to see Kiddo dance in two big dance performances this weekend. She will be a swan, in Swan Lake of course, for one of the shows. Seeing her dance on stage always makes me want to cry. Do moms ever grow out of that?

Many Congratulations on your good fortune! The Avon Boat is beautiful and deserves to be in a show. I want to respond to your comment about watching your daughter dance. My grandson is in ballet and I have cried at every performance since he was 8 or 9 years old. Now that he is 15 years old, I can't keep up with all his shows, but I can count on a thrill each time I see him perform.

Love the boat. Love that you've been accepted, believe that they've chosen well. Agree that watching our babies will always touch our hearts. I was a blubbering fool when my two DD's danced an intricate duet, jazz-ballet.

Congratulations! This definitely deserved to be picked. You did a great job on it. I bet your work will be picked for even more exhibitions in the future now. I don't think moms ever stop crying over their kids. Hopefully they are mostly happy tears though. I hope the shows go well for her.

p.s Sophie is our new dogs name
