The life of things

With an eye made quiet
by the power of harmony,
and the deep power of joy,
We see into the life of things.

-William Wordsworth

This is my late post for Everyday Matters drawing challenge #207, draw a seashell. It is graphite in my new, small hand.book journal. You know, for the sake of keeping things simple I had thought it might be a good idea to put these drawing challenges in my larger journal, along with all my other sketches and scribbles, and I did do that for a while. Then the other day while at a local art supply store I picked up another one of the small, square hand.book journals for my Everyday Matters drawing challenges. There was just something about having them all in their own sketch book, being able to flip back through and seeing all those drawings together that was nice. This feels better.

I've been drawing boxes like a fiend. When I'm not doing the boxes (until I feel I've gotten boxes perfected?) I've been doing the scratch board stuff. Not much of the everyday is getting done. But I love shell. It looks so peaceful and serene

I hope I'm commenting on the shell - the comment box wouldn't come up and I've since navigated away from the page and closed some windows, only for this to be lurking at the back!

It's a stunning drawing Ann, the shading is just perfect. It could be a black and white photo.

It's a beautiful shell drawing. Going with the quote you added, I would say that when we really look closely at a thing we see the creator in it and so it comes to life.

I have a separate sketchbook for my EDM challenges (not that I've added to it lately). Since they aren't full pictures or arrangements I didn't want to put them in my other journals. Like you say, it will be fun to look back and see them all together too.

This is a lovely graphite drawing, Ann. (And thanks for the award! Life is hectic now, so it may take me a while to pass it on)
