Sketchbook Tuesday - it's really cold here

This page from New Year's eve marks the last day we had temps above freezing. Well, above 20F actually. I bought an avocado for sandwiches and sketched it first. I also want to try and grow the pit into a plant.
It took three tries and over six weeks through three different sellers but I finally got the Hannah Hinchman book, A Life In Hand, that was so highly recommended in Kate's journaling class. Now I know why everyone loves it so much. It is a wonderful book.Do you think we talk about the weather so much when it's pleasant? We've had a monster snow, a devastating ice storm, and now for days the high temperature hovers around 10F while the wind blows. The forecast is for more of the same.I finally am getting around to planting my paper white bulbs in order to have something blooming indoors, as a reminder that spring will eventually come. Right?

Great sketches, Ann. I especially love the shine on that paper white bulb. Spring is just around the corner. The days are getting longer. Hope it warms up for you soon. Keep those fuzzy socks on until it does, tho.

Keep warm, Ann! I meant to tell you earlier that I'm doing the happy dance for you on your unexpected show! What a wonderful surprise! Good luck to you both!

Beautiful sketches. No, it's not cold in San Diego, but that means we're all outside instead of inside sketching where we belong! I loved your work.

Beautiful pages! And the book sounds interesting. I wonder if my library has it...

I was just thinking about which of my outdoor plants won't make it this year. My southern plants don't like this northern weather!

I just love Hannah Hinchman. I'm glad you were able to finally track down that book.

The avocado sketch is lovely - all the colors! And I recognized your bulb sketch immediately - I gave paperwhite bulbs as office gifts this year. I'm ashamed to say I didn't think to sketch one before I gave it away.

Stay warm!

I really like your sketches, Ann! The colors on the avocado are amazing. It's freezing cold where I am (in Calgary) and has been for weeks.

I especially like the socks - so warm and cozy- looking in this cold weather. I gues I can't complain too much, although we are certainly not used to this amount of snow and cold in the UK.

Thanks all and I hope everyone can stay warm! Or let's all go see Carol in San Diego!
