sketchbook Tuesday :: hydrangea

Along with the changing season, my hydrangea blossoms are changing from their brilliant blue to subtle pinks and greens. I clipped a few of the blossoms and brought them indoors to dry. I love their beautiful, understated color.

Such a lovely piece with such gorgeous colours! Thanks for giving me my hydrangea fix for the day. Sadly I do not have any hydrangeas in my garden here but I shall be planting some next year. I have been wishing to do a cp piece featuring hydrangeas but the florist shops I have visited haven't had quite the right blossoms. So I eye up the gardens I pass as I drive around. Going to have to keep my good camera in the car! How wonderful to have these cuttings in your house to enjoy and paint!!!!

I think hydrangeas have jumped ahead of lilacs in my favorite flowers. I too love their gorgeous changing colors and you've captured that beautifully here, Ann. Mine are all brown outside. We had such a hot and dry summer that they just didn't last long. I hope they come back in the spring.

Dear Ann - such a lovely piece of art - hydrangeas dried are simply gorgeous. Have not been successful in growing them in my neck of the woods but love them. God Bless and have a wonderful day.

So dramatic! Love the hydrangea. I missed your other postings due to a computer meltdown etc and find your "right now" pieces so thoughtful.

Beautiful Ann! At our old house in Winston, we had a blue haydrangea that turned just like this! Thanks for reminding me of its beauty!
