The forest and the trees

This is a little mixed media experiment. It is on Strathmore 500 Bristol Velum using watercolor pencils, washed with water, then dry colored pencil on top. This was a fun technique to do on paper and I had a little fun with the imagery too. It became more fanciful the longer I worked on it. I don't know that this is going anywhere though. I have lots of ideas brewing and have begun a new project that I will share with you all soon. Working this way, as with the image above, will just have to get filed away for now.

And for those of you who don't already know, the Everyday Matters drawing group has a new super blog and it looks to be really taking off. You can find a link to it on my side bar or here.

It IS fanciful - something right out of Alice in Wonderland. I like it!

Superb result! It must be really nice to be experimenting with all kinds of techniques, and the outcome can be surprisingly amazing a lot of times :) You're definitely at your element there Ann!
Thanks again for all the kind comments on my blog.

Ooo, this is so peaceful. I love the light and shadow on the closest tree trunk. This would make a lovely card, or a children's book illustration, even the illustration for a magazine editorial type article! It even looks like you had fun with it.

It took me awhile to figure out the easy stuff as I didn't expect it to be easy, had forgotten a bunch of Typepad stuff etc. but I'm glad you told me about this or I could have gone on forever. Sigh.

Nice and interesting result, and different too. I like the colors you've chosen, cheerful and a little bit nostalgic...
