Getting out

The Professor and I are trying to get a local nature sketching group going. We think it would be fun to get together with others for sketch outings. So we set up a Yahoo group and put the word out with emails and fliers. Yesterday was our first sketch outing with the group. We met at Bass Lake and had a wonderful time sketching and chatting. It was a very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Hopefully our group will take off and we can enjoy a few more outings while the weather is still nice.

The sketch above is in my Moleskine watercolor journal, sketched in pencil and then watercolor pencils.
This is a sketch of Kiddo sketching, in my hand.book journal, ink and watercolor wash, finished up the watercolor at home.

Terrific result from outdoor sketching! I've only done it once and it's barely 'done' I should say ^^ I really love the layers of colors you put, and you've maintained the cool, and natural tones which is just great! I feel calm just by looking at it actually.

Thanks Ann for your wishes, I'm hanging on good, and I'll always think positive. If it's a long vacation I am given, then perhaps it's a long vacation I need. I might learn or discover something new in between, and it may be a good thing afterall. :)

Cool sketches, and the idea of setting up a local group is great! I'd love to go sketching with my daughter, too!
Also wanted to say, your Wave 1, below, is incredible. Amazingly gorgeous and so well done. It has permanence, and movement. You captured the essence of the sea and dawn, so beautifully!
