You know I like to begin with a new sketchbook at the start of each season. I did put together a new sketchbook for summer, to begin at the solstice, but life got in the way and it was a few days before I could actually do a sketch. Although I did sit with Cathy Johnson's book, Watercolor Tricks & Techniques, late one evening, just for a bit of inspiration. So I added a quote from her writing to start my journal off on a good note. This first sketch was done with ink and wash. A new, or not often used, technique for me. Our hydrangea is gorgeous this year.
And a whole bag of peaches came home from the farmers' market last Saturday with Kiddo and The Professor. I see a peach pie in my future.

Really nice pieces!
I'm thinking the sketch of the hydrangeas might just be using the Skip's Green! Love Love Love that color! So enjoyed our day!
LVOELY. yum TO THOSE PEACHES!
hydrangeas are beautiful. Mine have not bloomed yet. I wanted to put lime on them to to try and get pink but I think I am to late...I will enjoy the thought mine will look like yours soon.
Thanks everyone! It's only the second year for that hydrangea and it's doing very well. I was excited to see all of the blooms this year. And yes, Deborah, Skip's green it is :-) I had fun too!
Both are beautiful, the colours & subjects are so summery!
