Nine days and counting

This is another cloud study from an old photo, brown colored pencil and watercolor pencils in my hand.book journal. And here I am nine days into the Every Day in May challenge. The scanning and posting daily isn't as difficult as I thought it might be. But that doesn't rule out the possibility that I may skip a day here and there with posting, and double up on my daily sketches in one post. However, working with these watercolor pencils is becoming more frustrating instead of easier. With this being a new media for me I think I need to slow down a bit to really learn how to best make them work for me. And that's part of what Every Day in May is all about. What I am posting here are obviously not finished works, but the raw sketches quickly done in my sketchbook. I love seeing artists' sketchbooks, and getting a glimpse at how they work out visual information. Sometimes it's more about the process than the product.

I love seeing people's sketches :D its interesting to see something happen from the rough starts to the finish. The thoughts process and things learned by the person are great to see as well as they can sometimes help me with an art problem I was having.

its a great sketch, really can feel like the wind is moving and the clouds look nice and billowy (hmm wasn't sure if that was a word lol)

Lovely sketch - it feels as though you were there drawing it, and not taken from a photo.

Palm trees and wind! It has a great feeling, soft, warm and windy, it's great! Love coming to see your work, your colors are very soothing and there's always a real life feeling in your drawings.

Bright blue sky and with clouds that beautiful, and the movement of the leaves in your drawing... everything is just so alive here. You use colors so brilliantly! :)

The clouds are terrific. I haven't been able to get a smooth blue sky on even an inchy size piece. Sometimes watercolor pencils are difficult but they are sooo portable.
